Free parking in NYC

Amanda Hickman point out [l:|this study from Transportation Alternatives] about city employees driving to work more than other New Yorkers over on [l:|DMI Blog]. Parking in the city it one of my issues. Especially when it comes to things like [l:|the abuse of parking by city employees].

Apparently there are 110k or so city parking permits, comapre that with 61k single metered parking spots in the 5 boroughs. How about we give sity employees metro cards and take away their parking permits.

It time for the city to seriously look at eliminating on free on street parking, reducing the number of vehicles in the city's fleet, reducing parking permits, and [gh:node/267|conjestion pricing] Manhattan's streets.
