Politics

"These are people who are politically driven..."

The New York Times reported a quote from George Bush earlier this week (it might have been last weekend, i tore the quote out but didn't note the date). that caught my eye for the extreme absurdity of it.

Thank You Harry Taylor

[l:http://www.civicactions.com/node/325|Fen blogged] about [l:http://www.thankyouharrytaylor.org|ThankYouHarryTaylor.org]. Dan also had a conversation with the organizer of the site and the [l:http://thankyouharrytaylor.blogspot.com/|coordinated actions this Saturday] to the "Thank Harry Taylor" for giving us all voice.

Revisionist History, Political Hacks and Reporting

I just finished the Mark Warner profile piece in the NYT Magazine/

Mark seems like a good guy. Would probably make a good president and will be a decent candidate, he might be able to capture the nomination. But do the dems really want Mark Warner? He would be perhaps the most centrist democratic presidential candidate in history. Haven't we realized we can't beat the republicans by being the tru compassionate conservatives? That is not the point of this post though.

State of the Union: Live Back Channel

I have been talking about this for what seems like ages. Ever since i went to my first conference with live back channel chat projected above the heads of the speakers. I think it was the PDF in 2004. The idea is that during big national political televised events, like debates, conventions, state of the union.... events that are carried on major media outlets uninterrupted... you have a live IRC or similar type of back channel chat where smart folks can talk about the event, point out lies, or truths, crack wise, etc.

Bushie... Heck of a Job!

Paul Krugman has a great piece in the NYT yesterday [l:http://select.nytimes.com/gst/tsc.html?URI=http://select.nytimes.com/2005/12/30/opinion/30krugman.html&OP=776d72aQ2FoQ3FbQ22oQ3CHQ51ppQ3CoQ5ENN7oQ2FQ5EokNopV(E(pEokNQ7CQ51Q26fn2E0Q25Q3Cnj|unfortunately it is behind a pay-wall]. But Heck of a Jon, Bushie is a nice recap of all all the scandal and dissapointment and corruption flowing out of the Bush adminsitration and the Republican party.
