It is raining here in New York City. So I decided to upgrade my iPod software, completely restore the devise (removing all my music) and install [l:http://ipodlinux.org/Main_Page|iPod Linux]! I was daunted at first, only because i skipped over the part about [lk:ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net|the gui installer] and tried to use some command line mojo (which if you know me, you would know was not a very good idea. GUIs are my friend). The whole operation took only a few minutes. Now i have new games, a numeric batter level indicator, and some other really neat abilities like easily recording audio (wav) using a mike plugged into the headphone jack.

dude you are so 1 year behind...
i can't believe that it's taken you this long to get around to do this. last year i was ranting and raving that you should "upgrade" and you just shrugged me off.
if anyone else is planning on "upgrading" take a look at podworks - http://www.scifihifi.com/podworks/ this app will allow you to "backup" your ipod's playlist. use it wisely ;)
